MORGANTOWN — The WVU volleyball team earned a bid to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) on Nov. 26.

Left out of the NCAA tournament earlier in the day, WVU (18-12) instead accepted the NIVC bid and will host the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, at 7 p.m. Nov. 28.

It’s the first postseason bid for the Mountaineers under head coach Reed Sunahara.

The NIVC is a 32-team bracketed tournament. The WVU-UMES winner would advance to play either Temple or Campbell. That game is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., at the WVU Coliseum. The two winners will meet, at 7 p.m. Nov. 29, in Morgantown.

UMES (27-8) is coming off a 3-0 loss against Florida A&M in the semifinals of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament.

WVU will be coming off a 3-2 victory against No. 14 Kansas, on Saturday, the Mountaineers’ first victory over a top 25-ranked program.
