Man told not to drink as part of domestic battery plea deal

KINGWOOD — A Newburg man pleaded guilty to second offense domestic battery as part of a plea agreement Jan. 17. Donald Richard Doman Sr. pleaded to the charge of throwing a work boot at his wife, hitting her right ankle, which was in a cast.

Assistant prosecuting attorney Savannah Wilkins told Judge Lawrance Miller Jr. that Doman’s wife didn’t want him in jail, she wanted him to get help with his alcohol problem. “She said he does well when he’s not drinking,” Wilkins said.

Doman told Miller he didn’t remember the incident. “I drank about a half gallon of firewater,” he said. Doman said all he remembered was the first three drinks of whiskey.

Miller ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for 10 a.m. March 19.

“I’m also ordering you drink no wine, no beer or other alcohol,” Miller said. “I’m also ordering random alcohol and drug tests.”
