KINGWOOD — Kingwood is considering moving city elections to coincide with state and national primary elections.

Mayor Jean Guillot estimated the town could save about $6,800 through the change. Preston County Clerk Linda Huggins explained how the process would work.

The city would still accept candidate filings and would proof the city ballot, Huggins said. She said the county would ask Kingwood to pay for production of its portion of the ballot, and half the cost for poll workers and precinct workers for the two precincts affected, 13 and 15.

City attorney Sheila Williams said an ordinance must be passed to make the change.
