CHARLESTON — The House of Delegates unanimously passed its bill to give correctional officers a pay raise and sent it to the Senate.

HB 4142 gives employees of the divisions of Corrections and Juvenile Services and the Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority who have regular inmate contact a total $6,000 raise — $2,000 per year for three years.

The hope, members said, is to reduce employee attrition and reduce mandatory overtime.
