MORGANTOWN — The national nonprofit Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition (HFSC) has named the Morgantown Fire Department a “Built for Life” fire department for its efforts to help Morgantown residents understand the life-saving importance of installing sprinkler systems in homes.

The HFSC established this new designation with federal Fire Prevention & Safety Grant funding. The program is part of a national campaign to increase the number of fire departments that teach about home fire sprinklers. In addition to awarding the MFD with a certificate, HFSC also provided free educational materials to support local home fire sprinkler outreach.

Residents who are building a new home or doing major remodeling work should talk with their builders about having a fire sprinkler system installed.
