MORGANTOWN — The state’s Higher Education Policy Commission is scheduled to vote on WVU President E. Gordon Gee’s new contract when it meets in a couple of weeks.

The agenda for the commission includes a possible executive session as well as approval of presidential contract and compensation for Gee. According to WVU Spokeswoman Diana Mazzella, the new contract is not yet available.

The commission is set to meet April 25 at Fairmont State University.

Gee is working under his president-for-a-term contract. That contract is set to expire in July and pays him an annualized rate of $450,000. Initial contracts for university presidents are limited to two years.

While at Ohio State, Gee earned roughly $2 million, according to media reports. WVU officials have previously said they don’t believe Gee will be compensated at that level while in Morgantown.
