Gift shop offers Trinity students hands-on economics lesson

MORGANTOWN — Trinity Christian School fifth-graders opened the 3 Wisemen Gift Shop to apply what they learned in a recent economics unit.

After investigating supply and demand, profits, expenses, advertising and competition, they hosted the store in the school library for classmates to purchase Christmas presents for their family members.

The students served as salespeople, cashiers and accountants. Librarian Andrea Steptoe, elementary Principal Diana Kingsbury, and fifth-grade teacher Amanda Darby collaborated to create the unit, providing the students with a real-life application to their study of economics.
