Civil suit filed in viral road rage incident

MORGANTOWN — A woman involved in a viral road rage incident filed a civil suit against the other person in the altercation.

This week, Amber Generally filed suit against William Sothen and his auto insurance company. Sothen was also in court on Jan. 18 for a hearing related to his battery charge for the incident. His trial was set for March.

The two were caught on video in a scuffle as both were stopped along Van Voohris Road in August. The video showed Sothen stopping Generally from getting into her car and then the two tumbled to the ground.

In the civil suit, Generally claims that Sothen “grossly, negligently, recklessly, willfully or maliciously injured the plaintiff.”

Generally asked for an unspecified amount of damages including mental anguish and medical expenses.
