KINGWOOD — A man who has repaid the victims of his scam entered into a deferred adjudication agreement Feb. 22 in Preston Circuit Court.

David Hiram Walker Jr., 49, of Bruceton Mills, was indicted in June 2017 for grand larceny by false pretenses.

According to Preston Assistant Prosecutor Megan Allender, he took $4,500 from an elderly couple as a down payment on putting shingles on their home, saying he was the owner of Pronto Construction. Pronto had not had a business license since 2010, Allender said, and Walker admitted to police that he spent the money and didn’t do the work.

He has repaid the money and is to pay court costs in a civil matter and the criminal trial as part of the agreement.
