MORGANTOWN — The Monongalia County Board of Education met Oct. 12 to discuss Local School Improvement Council (LSIC) reports.

The special meeting was held at the West Virginia National Guard Readiness Center, and area schools sent a delegation of students to answer questions at a meet and greet prior to the meeting.

Board member Mike Kelly said he loves the venue and likes that all the different schools were able to meet and interact with each other.

After the meeting was called to attention, there was a presentation by Eric Sheninger, author, former high school principal and fellow at the International Center for Leadership in Education.

“The world is different,” Sheninger said. “We have to prepare kids for their world.”

Superintendent Frank Devono said that LSIC’s have tremendous power and responsibility.

“If you need help know that we are here and that’s what our job is,” said Ron Lytle, board member. “Our job as administrators is to encourage you and help you.”
