When Allison Westfall took over ownership of Jane V Jewelers at the end of last year, she knew it was important to keep the same level of service as the previous owners.
And because she had been the manager of the store for the past seven years, she knew how to do it.
“We have great customer service, one on one, personalized. We’re here to help you find what you need and not what you don’t,” she said.
“You know what you’re getting and you’re going to love it when it walks out the door with you.”
The store, located in Chelsea Square off Van Voorhis Road, has been around about 20 years, Westfall said. It was owned by Ron and Jane Verbonach before they passed the jewelry store on to Westfall.
The business offers two main areas to shop: The jewelry store and, as Westfall refers to it, the boutique.
“We opened the boutique about four years ago and it’s just been a nice addition to what we were already doing,” Westfall said.
“We specialize, of course, in custom jewelry, custom diamond engagement rings, wedding bands, lots of gemstone fashion, birthstones. Everything in our fashion boutique from purses and scarves and fun jewelry to our Mariana line, watches ... it’s just, if you can’t find it here, you can’t find it.”
She emphasizes that the store caters to everyone: From the $20 shopper to the $20,000 one.
“From the high-end guy that needs Rolex repair to the guy that needs a battery in his Timex, we cover all bases,” she said.
And she takes in pride in being able to offer a totally customizable experience, something you won’t get when shopping online, she said.
“If we don’t have it, we can order it,” Westfall said.
“I handle the custom designs, and if you can dream it, we can do it.”
Long-time customer Esther Aliff said it’s the service Jane V Jewelers provides that keeps her coming back.
One day, while looking for a birthday gift for her niece, she spotted a small, silver children’s bracelet with a little dish suitable for engraving. The problem was, the niece’s birthday was the next day. Aliff thought for sure she wouldn’t be able to get the bracelet engraved that quickly. But she asked Westfall anyway.
“You don’t get that everywhere. Very rarely do you get that,” Aliff said. “I’ve had such good luck with them.”
“She said, no problem, we can take care of that,” Aliff said, adding that Jane V Jewelers employees drove the bracelet to Uniontown, Pa., that evening for engraving and called Aliff the next day to pick up the gift.
