Hair Depot marks anniversary
Salon also offers spray tanning
Hair Depot in Westover marked its one-year anniversary in June.
Owner Becky Amtower splits her time between the Mon County salon and her two other locations, in Keyser. She said the Westover salon had a slow start, but business is growing.
“The first year was a little slow, but we are picking up business and things are getting better,” Amtower said.
The salons in Keyser have been open for more than 10 years. One is located at Heartland of Keyser nursing home, while the other is a full-service salon with 24-hour tanning access.
The Westover location is also a full-service salon offering cuts, color, perms, smoothing treatments, waxing, nail care and facials. The salon also recently added spray tanning.
The staff is made up of four cosmetologists, including Melissa Prunty, Danielle Cook, Sarah Henry and manager Teresa Finniss. Leigh Lancaster is the salon’s massage therapist.
Amtower believes her salon has competitive prices compared to other salons in the Morgantown area.
“A year ago, before I opened the salon, I checked out the demographics of different
salons around here and I feel that our prices are competitive to the others,” Amtower said.
Frequent customer Sarah Power has been coming to the salon since it opened, in
“All of the workers have always been really nice and helpful, and it’s pretty affordable compared to other places,” Power said.
Power added that she has always had a good experience at Hair Depot.
“It’s really close to campus and reasonable, so it’s really great for college students,” Power said.
Amtower expects Hair Depot to continue to grow and excel in the Morgantown area.
“I look for it to be a very profitable business,” she said.
