UHS boys’ hoops advance to Big Atlantic finals

BECKLEY — The No. 2-ranked Hawks won their fourth straight game and advanced to the championship game of the Big Atlantic Tournament with a 65-52 victory against Hedgesville, on Feb. 2.

Ethan Ridgeway scored 23 points and added six rebounds and three assists.

UHS (13-1) will play Woodrow Wilson, at 9 p.m. today in the finals. The game will be broadcasted by WAJR.

UHS was 23 of 40 (58 percent) shooting, but only 2 of 13 from 3-point range.

“Maybe we should nothing but two-pointers,” UHS head coach Joe Schmidle said. “Overall, it was a good effort. The guys handled the pace of the game well.”

Austin Forbes added 13 points and Kaden Metheny scored 12 for the Hawks.

Jason Plotner led Hedgesville with 21 points.
